George Fazio Hilton Head Golf
Nestled within Palmetto Dunes, the George Fazio Golf Course is a true hidden gem. Designed by George Fazio himself in 1974 and beautifully renovated in 1994, this course is known for its challenging layout and immaculate condition. The combination of natural beauty and strategic complexity makes every round here a memorable adventure.
Imagine lush greenery, scenic landscapes, and holes that wind through dense forests and marshlands. The course has only two par 5s, making it a par 70 with a yardage of 6,873, a slope of 145, and a rating of 74.2. Trust me, it's a challenging course with narrow fairways that require precision. The 17th hole, in particular, is a tough par 3 with water hazards waiting to catch any misplayed shots. As the marshall wisely advised me, “take your two putts if lucky and move on.”
Golf Course Rates
Playing at George Fazio Golf Course can cost between $110 and $169 per person, depending on the date and time. For a more budget-friendly and less crowded experience, I recommend booking a tee time in the afternoon.
This course is one of the more affordable yet high-quality options in Hilton Head. Its stunning landscape and challenging holes make it worth every dollar. The only downside is the lack of an on-site driving range. To practice before your round, you'll need to head to the Arthur Hills course, which is a short drive away. However, the chipping and putting greens at George Fazio are also excellent options for warming up.

My Last Round in Hilton Head
On the final day of my trip, I found myself with a free morning and a desire to explore more golf. After a workout at my hotel gym, I noticed a sign in the lobby listing the best activities at the resort. Golf, of course, caught my eye. I was surprised we hadn’t planned to play the George Fazio course. A quick online search later, I secured a tee time for myself and drove to the course.
Arriving for my afternoon tee time, I was eager to tackle the course solo. Unbeknownst to me, the course lacked a driving range, so I focused on chipping and putting instead. A quick visit to the pro shop led to some delightful souvenirs to remember this unique course.
Playing George Fazio was a fantastic experience. The course is undoubtedly tough, with narrow fairways and long par 4s demanding careful drives. The landscape was breathtaking, and I can't wait to return. Playing alone was a refreshing experience, allowing me to focus purely on my game and enjoy the serenity of the course.
